One of the most common questions people have about RVing in 2019 isn’t actually about RVs. It’s “how do you stay connected?” The answer for many of us full-timers is through several channels.
There are campgrounds with the free bandwidth you need for a good Netflix binge, while others offer paid services that aren’t strong enough to check your email.
Since the internet service at campgrounds is variable, I use the hot spots on my cell and tablet, and have a hot spot in my truck aka tow vehicle with a different carrier. With the exception of places where you need a satellite phone, this variety of options works pretty well.
That said, like most full-time RVers, I’ve also found myself Skyping in Walmart parking lots, desperately seeking a Starbucks or library, and generally utilizing the wi-fi anywhere it’s offered for free.
Since online connectivity is so important, some of the best RVing resources are the Mobile Internet Resource Center and Technomadia. Chris Dunphy & Cherie Ve Ard keep us up-to-date with the tools and services that can best serve us on the road. From product reviews to heads ups on service provider sales, they are an RVer’s key source for information about how to stay connected.
