Inspection Definitions

Acceptable/Good: Green

The identified component or object is performing its intended function with little to no deterioration visible. 

  • Appears to be new or semi new
  • Not broken or cracked
  • Proper Repairs

Examples:

The window seals are in place, supple, and devoid of cracks or tears.

 The roof vent has been repaired with no visible means for further damage or future water penetration.

 The flooring was replaced due to a slide out tear and it is now semi new. 

Fair: Yellow

The identified component or object is performing its intended function, but deterioration is visible. 

  • Shows age appropriate wear, but functions properly
  • Cosmetic issues
  • Age appropriate wear and tear

Examples:

 There is paint crazing on the exterior walls.

 The AC unit has bent fins, but passes the Delta-T test.

The paint on an exterior compartment door is scratched.

 An AC vent is cracked. 

Poor/Bad: Purple

The identified component or object is not performing its intended function, or it is close to failure. 

  • Doesn’t work as intended
  • Worse condition than is usual or expected for model age
  • Broken to the extent that it prevents function

Examples:

 Leaking leveling hydraulics.

 An air conditioner delta-T value under 18°F.

 Leaking waste tanks or waste tank gate valves.

 Exterior walls with rust or split seams.

 Cracked or missing bulb seals on the slide outs.   

Life Safety Issue: Red

The identified component or object has the potential to prevent escape from harm or has the potential to cause harm.

  • Fire hazards
  • Expired detectors
  • Electrical hazards

Examples:

 The Smoke Detector is over 10 years old.

 An Emergency Exit window is blocked.

 The GFCI receptacle does not trip.

 A propane leak test failed.

 An A/C shroud cover is badly cracked and may tear off at highway speeds.

 A tail light is not working.
