2 Helpful Acronyms For Parking Your RV Better

We all know acronyms are helpful to remember things. Especially in terms of RVing weights, from GWVR to OCCC. However, two of my favorite reminders in regards to parking or maneuvering an RV are the approaches of GOAL & KISS.

GOAL & KISS? What is this, some sexy soccer match? Nope! Promise we’re still talking about RVing…

Method #1: GOAL = Get Out And Look

An absolute favorite among RVers & Truckers for parking, GOAL is a failproof (ok, almost failproof…) method to prevent snafus when setting up at your campsite.

There are many methods for parking your RV, whether by yourself or with help. You’ll often have an escort at private campgrounds help you park. As a newbie, I enjoyed parking aid from friendly strangers who became neighbors & even super kind rangers at state or national parks.

Regardless of whether you’re parking with help or on your own, the GOAL method helps gauge your parking situation so that you know exactly where you are & where you want to go. Even the best helpers are no substitute for your own eyeballs & brain.

These days, my parking confidence is at 100%, so I prefer to park, unhitch, & perform the reverse by myself using the GOAL method. I’ve only had one snafu using the GOAL method while parking on my own & that silly story is shared here. The short version is look UP, down & all around when using the GOAL method.

Get out and look EVERYWHERE AROUND THE RV. Know where the power, water, & sewer hookups are in relation to your RV’s hookups. Know how much space your slide-outs, awnings, and entry doors need. Make sure you have the room you need where you need it.

Method #2: KISS = Keep It Simple, Sweetie!

This method needs no explanation, lol! It’s just a silly reminder to work smarter. Often, slow and simple is the best way to park an RV. RV Parking doesn’t have to be painful.

I hope these are helpful reminders for my RVing friends! What are some of your favorite RV related acronyms?
